Typical Course of Study

Below is a list of recommended courses for full-time students with the goal of graduating with a high school diploma from the Southwest Colorado eSchool. While individual student needs may vary, this is a general plan to help all students reach the same objective. During the registration process, SWCeS staff will help all students plan the appropriate courses. The following plan meets the graduation requirement but also includes recommendations for college-bound students. Each term, students may revisit an electronic plan of study.

7th Grade

  • English 7 (full year)
  • Math 7 (full year)
  • Social Studies – World Area Studies (full year)
  • Science (full year)
  • World Language (full year)
  • Elective (2 semesters)
 

8th Grade

  • English 8 (full year)
  • Math 8 (full year)
  • Social Studies – Early US History (full year)
  • Science (full year)
  • World Language (full year)
  • Elective (2 semesters)

 

NOTE: High school courses are credited in Carnegie units. Each semester earns 0.5 credits. In the following course recommendations, full-year courses are designated by a 1.0 credit, 0.5 for each term in the school year.

9th Grade – 6.0 credits

  • English 9 (1.0 credit)
  • Algebra 1 (1.0 credit)
  • Earth Science (1.0 credit)
  • American Government (.5 credit)
  • Geography (.5 credit)
  • World Language (1.0 credit)
  • Physical Education (0.5 credit)

10th Grade – 6.0 credits

  • English 10 (1.0 credit)
  • Geometry (1.0 credit)
  • Modern US History (1.0 credit)
  • Biology Science (1.0 credit)
  • Other grad requirement credits (1.0 credit)
    • Health (0.5) or  Fine art (0.5) recommended
  • Elective credits (1.0 credit)
    • World Language (1.0) recommended
 

11th Grade – 6.0 credits
