Testing Information

(updated March 2021)

A few words about assessments:

These assessments are used, in part, to determine a performance score for the SWCeS and are important for maintaining our Colorado accreditation rating. Scores are also helpful to us for academic planning and college admissions.

(These tests are scheduled for the Durango Student Center)

SAT - 11th Grade Students: Tuesday, April 13, 2021

The State of Colorado will provide this assessment free of charge and scores on the SAT may be used for college admissions. The SAT is required by state and federal law for all students in Colorado and can be used for college entrance. The Southwest Colorado eSchool provides an opportunity for all juniors attending our school to sit for this exam. We highly encourage our students to take this exam. Students attending the Southwest Colorado eSchool are attending school in a remote setting and as such for the 2020/21 school year the SAT is an opt-in opportunity.

PSAT-9 - 9th-grade students: Thursday, April 15, 2021

PSAT-10 - 10th-grade students: Wednesday, April 14, 2021

During the 2020/21 school year freshmen will be offered the PSAT-9 State assessment, along with Sophomores (PSAT-10) and Juniors (SAT) in April each year.  Students attending the Southwest Colorado eSchool are attending school in a remote setting and as such for the 2020/21 school year the PSAT-9 and PSAT-10 are an opt-in opportunity.

CMAS  and PARCC testing

For 2020/21 in response to the COVID Pandemic, the state of Colorado and the Department of Education have been providing ongoing guidance to schools. The guidance that we have received indicates that students and families that have chosen remote learning for the 2020/21 school year in general have chosen not to be in in-person group settings. As such all students and families will be given the option to opt into CMAS and PARCC Testing. This represents a change from previous years in which parents are asked to officially Opt-Out or excuse their students from assessments. What this means to all of our families is that you will be given the option of sitting for assessments that are listed below:

CMAS/PARCC Testing:

PARCC English

6th grade: MATH

7th grade: ELA

8th grade: MATH
